A fisherman in Chongqing Municipality has found a wild giant salamander, which authorities believe could be more than 200 years old. The giant salamander was about 1.4 meters long and weighed 52 kilograms.

Best music for a giant salamander ever. *snaps along*
Adra Abiyuga
well, I have to agree with this comment

+Merry Calliope Most annoying music for a giant salamander ever. *muted along*
clsman89
You should let him go. If he survived 200 years free in nature, let him be.
migscratch
+clsman89 I definetly agree. We humans just take what we want from this world. Some will say that is for the natural evolution of science but we shouldn´t allow ourselves to grab a 200 years old living being to put it inside a fucking jail.

@migscratch
So now the information has been released and even the cave names, what is to stop it from being dinner for someone? I see where you are coming from and maybe the safest bet would have been to just not tell anyone when you find something magnificent because it would probably still be there without interruptions, but with the info being released what would you recommend? I don’t think they should cut him up or even put needles in him and I strongly agree that that is probably what they are doing. Hopefully they are giving it it’s space and just admiring him from a distance but now it is out of our hands.

NOO NOPE
Ignorant much? Nature is way better than anyyyyy captivity. But hey what do you know, living in ur a/c big city house. You never tasted fresh meat, fresh fruits, veggies. But yeah you know that nature is so evil. Dumb, Dense, and in Denial.

That song made me really interested in salamanders. Now I’m a wildlife biologist.
Judge Joe Brown
+aardvark445 At that moment, I was a marine biologist.

Endangered creature potentially lives for over 200 years in a cave? Better remove it from that habitat and put it in a pool.
bommie
+Nakhryn Shlong Makes no difference to me, I’m just pointing out the irony in the logic. Either way, whose fault is it that the location was made public in the first place? No one forced these people to announce the discovery lol.
GritoBelito
species is critically endangered and a delicacy in china, I can see why they removed it
Shea Thompson
They have done that to make sure it live a longer life
Vagabond Jubei
My thoughts exactly.
CroakTheRibbit
i see it lasting maybe 2 months before it dies there.. great find morons.
Volker Mc Folke
+CroakTheRibbit “Because the species is critically endangered, scientists removed the ancient beast from its cave and moved it to a protective research facility. The Post reports that the salamanders are a delicacy in China—the species is a target for poachers—and their population has declined about 80% over the last 50 years.”
either they leave it there and it dies within a few days or it dies within a few months, pick one
ikdahlv
+CroakTheRibbit im sure they take care of it 🙂
Eli Egbert
@ikdahlv china cant take care of anything

After 200 years, it had doubtlessly established a daily routine. Now, said routine is disrupted.

+MartenFerret Waaaaaaah. Poor amphibian. Waaaaahhhhhhhhh.

@Robert Jensen You would dry it out.

+WeezyFanDude Haha, look at Nostradamus over here… If I were to see a 103 year old man, I could probably say the same thing with a high level of certainty. So in reality you’ve predicted nothing that isn’t already painfully obvious.
Joakim
+WeezyFanDude What scientific reasoning do you have backing up that statement? None I bet.
