Wow, the only thing which blew my mind was that totally unrealistic police drone scenario. As a “Part 107” sUAS pilot and Public Safety Officer I can’t even begin to take that seriously. If one of my officers was standing around waiting for me to show up, assemble and the launch they would need to be fired. Sure, a sUAS has it’s place in certain situations but not as presented in that video. Now, IF the guy was known to be hiding in a specific area, waiting in ambush or something like that, sure. But this was a active pursuit. Those officers should have been chasing him down and not waiting for UAV support. That dude could have kept running and been halfway across the county by the time the officer got the UAV in the air.
Something like that will only work if the UAV is already assembled, powered on and preferably already in the air and in the area. Couple that with a small heads up display streamed in the officers vehicles or to a monitor worn on their eyepro to the on scene officers can have a view from the air and you may have a useful aircraft. Or something as small as the Spark with a rapid deployment box/case on the roof so it can launch as soon as the pursuit vehicle brakes to a stop.
But unpacking it out of the trunk, setting it up and launching? Nope. The guy would be long gone by then.

Doesn’t make sense with what you stated. Copters are called in to find suspects that are fleeing all the time. They aren’t waiting for the copters yet the copters still find them and they are never “half way across the country” by that time.
It doesnt take but a minute to assemble the drone, 5 mins tops.

Totally agree with @cellblock776 missing person yes, felony suspect on the run, time wasted waiting for UAS support as a primary is not going to happen.

This might be a dated video but very interesting & worth watching. The police part may be a silly example but if the unit is set up right out of the vehicle it could be very useful in search & rescue & other scenarios. Open your mind a bit & think of all 5 possibilities.

For your next video I can recommend the Spider C85 by JTT UAV. It can be unfolded in 30 seconds, has a front obstable avoidance system, it’s waterproof, with a nice 7” high bright display and a working time in remote control mode of 2 hours (+ external charging available) But anyway, keep adding more of these videos! 😀

I’m going to need more feedback on the police drone track, maybe pump the base up a bit and a funk the rift up. Apart from that it was very informative. The police need to be drone technicians now and build it on site before use. Great.

Shootin drones out of the sky is impractical since they can see you well out of range of a shotgun and not too many people are THAT good with a rifle!! Not to mention the report and muzzle flash would betray your position. Instead, do what my buddy and his team do: train birds to knock them out.

Yah I think the only time this would be used for is like a hold out or something like what happened a few years back in baton rouge Louisiana ware a guy was around this gas station/automotive repair shop shot’s were exchanged and the guy had a damn Israeli M-tar, I think 6 cops were critically wounded and 2or3 dead
